Plans are being prepared to design and implement flood alleviation works in Celbridge, Co Kildare.
The Office of Public Works (OPW) and Kildare County Council are puting together a proposal for the work on the Hazelhatch Road.
Fianna Fáil TD for Kildare North Frank O'Rourke said: "Flooding along the Hazelhatch Road has had serious effect on the community in that part of Celbridge. Celbridge GAA, Celbridge Tennis Club, the School and 700 houses have been badly affected and we need to get a permanent solution to minimise the risk of further flooding in the area.
"This commitment is great news for Celbridge. Kildare Co. Co., over a 3 month period in early 2017, will carry out surveys, ground water monitoring, water table monitoring etc. to establish all the details and facts so this information can be put into the “Modelling Program” which with other considerations will deliver a permanent solution to the flooding problem in Hazelhatch."
