The 'Bedroom Tax' will not be introduced in Northern Ireland, according to Sinn Féin.
Bedroom Tax is a change to Housing Benefit Entitlement that means tenants will receive less in housing benefit if they live in a housing association or council property that is deemed to have one or more spare bedrooms.
Mr Fra McCann MLA said despite "scaremongering" from some quarters it will not apply in NI.
He said: "A package of mitigations, secured by Sinn Féin, is in place so that tenants here will not be penalised by this unfair Tory tax."
