FF Concerned Over Funding For M20 Motorway

Fianna Fail has raised serious concerns over the allocation of funding to build the M20 motorway.

Cork North West TD Michael Moynihan made the comment after reports suggested that the Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform, Paschal Donohoe, said that he would be fast tracking funding to other projects, particularly in Dublin.

Mr Moynihan said: "Once again, regional Ireland is being overlooked. We need fairness when it comes to the allocation of capital investment across the country. A balanced, development strategy would recognise that for the country to prosper, both the capital and the regional need investment.


"We need to make living and working in Munster attractive to both employers and employees. This requires reducing commuting times, and for the much-travelled journey between Limerick and Cork that means building the M20.

"Quite rightly, Dublin TDs and Ministers are championing projects for their city. What is confusing local people is why our local Ministers aren't championing the M20 motorway.

"We need our Cork TDs and Ministers championing regional infrastructural projects for Munster. If they won't do it, we cannot expect those in Dublin to do it for us."
