Work is to start on the Eslin to Mohill asbestos mains replacement project in Co Leitrim.
Irish Water is investing €330,000 in the scheme, which will involve the replacement of 2.2km of watermain that is prone to frequent bursts.
The works will take place on the R210 outside Mohill on a section of watermains that has burst almost 30 times over a 30-month period. The works are due to commence in mid-June and will be completed in approximately six months.
Irish Water's Capital Programme Regional Lead, John McElwaine, said: "We are delighted to be commencing work on this problematic watermain that has caused a lot of disruption to the local community in Mohill.
"The works will take approximately six months to complete and we would like to thank people in advance for their patience and co-operation during the construction phase which will bring some disruption. We will ensure that this disruption is minimised as much as possible."
