Construction work is continuing on the new £30 million Replacement Acute Mental Health Inpatient Facility at Belfast City Hospital.
However, Graham-Bam Healthcare Partnership has also been building homes for local birds.
The new facility is not only providing 80 acute mental health en-suite bedrooms with six psychiatric intensive care beds, it also incorporates 13 'Swift bricks' designed to create ideal accommodation for nesting Swifts.
Bird species like Swifts have occupied cracks and crevices in buildings for thousands of years, but the improved standard and style of modern construction has put their survival in towns and cities at risk.
By incorporating 'Swift bricks' into the design of the new build, Graham-Bam Healthcare Partnership has created a suitable habitat for this priority bird species.
