A one-way system is to be put in place from New Street to Damolly roundabout on Monday, 12 June, for the final stage of works to begin on the £350,000 resurfacing project on the A28 Belfast Road in Newry.

The scheme, on the main road from Newry to Belfast, will provide almost 1km of new asphalt road surface, footways and associated drainage improvement works. The resurfacing work extends for a distance of approximately 0.7km from its junction with New Street, to just beyond its junction with the Ashgrove Road.

The one-way system will divert traffic via A28 onto A27 Armagh Road arriving at Newry Court House. HGV traffic will be diverted via the A1 onto the Dublin Road to access Newry City. All vehicles accessing properties and businesses between New Street and the Damolly roundabout (Mourne Country) will be required to use the one way system during its operation. All motorists are advised to follow the signs and allow additional time for travelling.

The work is expected to be substantially completed by Friday, 07 July.
