Irish Water has invested €275,000 to replace old watermains in Clonbrusk West, Athlone and on the R446 in Milltownpass.
The work will improve the security of the water supply for customers. The 560m of water mains were prone to frequent bursts in Clonbrusk West and 2400m in Milltownpass.
Padraig Farrell, Capital Programmes Lead, East and Midlands Region, said: "The replacement of the aging watermains in in Clonbrusk West and Milltownpass has delivered a more reliable and secure water supply for customers. The new watermains will reduce leakage on the network which is a key target for Irish Water. By 2021 Irish Water has committed in its Business Plan to reduce leakage on the public water network to less than 38%. This project is part of our ongoing investment in Ireland's water infrastructure."
