Essential maintenance work in the Carlow and Bagnalstown areas has been rescheduled, ESB Networks has confirmed.
Approximately 3,425 ESB Networks customers will be left without electricity during the work.
The work was due to take place on Saturday, 26 August, however to facilitate customers who may be watching the McGregor fight the work will now go-ahead on Sunday, 27 August.
Customers will be without electricity between 2am until 5am.
The areas affected will be Bagnalstown, Fenagh, Garyhill, Myshall, Drumfea, Corries, Ballinkillen, Royal Oak, Kilree, Kilcarrig, Newtown and Mile Bush.
In a statement the firm said: "ESB Networks appreciates the concern among residents and business owners in the areas impacted by this planned outage. We acknowledge the obvious inconvenience this causes to customers and thank them for their cooperation. These essential planned outages are to facilitate the strengthening of the electricity network in the area, bringing greater reliability and resilience of supply to each customer. ESB Networks takes all steps necessary to minimise such disruption but unfortunately such planned outages are required for important work across our electricity network."
