The Department of Education has confirmed that a site has been secured to develop the new Greystones Community National School.

The school is currently located on the grounds of Greystones Rugby Club.

Stephen Donnelly, Fianna Fáil TD for Wicklow and East Carlowsaid: "I have been working closely with the Department of Education, parents and staff since the school opened its doors to find a permanent home for it. It looks like this has now become a reality.

"Staff at the school have done a sterling job of educating pupils in the current facilities, however, a purpose-built facility that allows it to meet the growing demand in the Charlesland area has been badly needed for some time now.

"The next priority is to ensure that building begins as quickly as possible. I will continue to work closely with the Department, parents, and teachers in order to ensure that the new facility is completed at the earliest opportunity."
