Contracts have been signed to acquire the site of former Harold's Cross Stadium, Dublin, for the construction of two proposed new schools.
Minister Bruton revealed the news today, April 26, after last week he announced the plans to build 17 new schools opening next year.
"We are now creating more school places than at any other period in the history of the State. In 2010, some 9,000 school places were created," said Mr Bruton. "In 2017, we built approximately 18,800 new and replacement places. I'm very happy that my Department has secured the Harold's Cross site which will house two new schools for the South Dublin area, providing schooling for in excess of 1,400 pupils."
Yesterday, April 25, Mr Bruton was urged to take action from Deputy Byrne when information came to light that showed no potential schools sites had yet been identified.
