Mid and East Antrim and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Councils have unveiled early plans to create a new greenway connecting Ballymena to Cushendall.

The plans could also include a possible connection to Broughshane.

The councils, working with UK charity Sustrans, are hosting a series of community consultation events to gather ideas and opinions on the proposed greenway.

Consultation events will be hosted on the several dates listed below:

• 15 May 7.30pm-9pm – Ballymena Showgrounds

• 17 May 7.30-9pm – Broughshane House, Main St, Broughshane

• 22 May 7.30-9pm – Glenravel Parish Centre, Glenravel Rd, Martinstown

• 24 May 7.30-9pm – Cushendall Parish Centre, Chapel Rd, Cushendall

Mayor, Cllr Paul Reid said: "There's a great opportunity here to develop an amenity that has the potential to benefit the area and communities on a variety of levels from transport and health to the local economy and tourism. I would encourage anyone who has a view or just wants to find out more to come along to one of the events."
