Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth has hit out at the Transport Minister asking for more road repair funds, after he claimed "no additional funding" was available.
Ms Smyth said the winter storms have caused the poor road conditions.
She said: "The state of the roads in certain parts of the constituency is extremely poor and poses serious road safety issues for drivers and pedestrians. Potholes, cracks in the road and crumbling footpaths have been exacerbated by the storms and flooding which hit Cavan and Monaghan this winter.
"This is a serious road safety issue and it is imperative that sufficient funding is given over to ensure that roads across Cavan and Monaghan are safe."
