Farrans To Begin Mains Renewal Works In Roscommon

Farrans Construction is to begin work to renew old water mains in Ballinlough, Co Roscommon.

Approximately 1.55km of old and damaged pipes are to be replaced with modern, heavy plastic pipes.

Network Regional Lead, Dave Murphy, said: "The works will involve the decommissioning and replacement of water mains along the N60 Ballyhaunis Road out of Ballinlough Town heading towards Carrick National School.

"The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting them to the customer's water supply. Trenchless technology will be used where possible to reduce the potential impact and traffic disruption due to these vital works."

The project is expected to be completed over an eight-week period.

It is part of Irish Water's four-year National Leakage Reduction Programme.
