The new Down Leisure Centre in Downpatrick is almost complete, as it prepares for a late November opening.

The £15.3 million facilities will be opened to the public on Saturday 24 November and Sunday 25 November, before its official opening the following day, 26 November.

Down Leisure Centre will include an 85 station Wellness gym, 26 station spin studio, luxury Vitality health suite and six-lane swimming pool and learner pool.

The project is being delivered by Kenny Fitzgerald Architects LLP.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin, said: "The opening of the new Down Leisure Centre will be a fantastic moment for the district and will provide an opportunity for everyone to Be Active and try out a new range of activities.

"The aim of the Be Active campaign is to motivate everyone to undertake more activity.

"A healthy and active lifestyle contributes positively to physical, mental and social wellbeing and our leisure and sport facilities can help you achieve this. 

"Our facilities will kick-start your journey to wellness and our staff will be there to help you along the way. We want to encourage everyone in our district to Be Active not only in our leisure facilities but in all corners of our district."
