Offaly's Grand Canal Greenway Projects Move Forward

Two projects along Offaly's Grand Canal Greenway are moving forward with new funding.

Minister for Rural & Community Development, Michael Ring TD announced €400,000 for the schemes under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.

Approximately €200k will be invested in the completion of a link from the Grand Canal Greenway at Ballycommon Bridge to the Royal Canal Greenway at Campbell's Bridge, Kilbeggan.

The other half of funding will go towards the extension of Grand Canal Greenway from Pullough to the Lough Boora Discovery Park.

A total of 14km of greenway has already been delivered on both projects.

They are scheduled for completion in 2019.
