Farrans Construction is to begin works on the Birdstown Water Main rehabilitation project in Co Donegal, starting next week, 28 January.
The project will involve replacing 830 metres of ageing water mains with new plastic pipes along the Burnfoot to Muff Road (R239) and continuing north at the junction with the L7631.
Traffic management may be implemented during the work.
When complete, it will ensure a more secure water supply for local customers.
Irish Water is delivering the scheme in partnership with Donegal County Council, under the utility's national Leakage Reduction Programme.
The works are expected to be completed by early March 2019.
