NI Water is progressing work on a major sewerage scheme in the Ormeau area of Belfast.
The £5 million NI Water project will deliver infrastructure improvements to the pipes and sewers around Ormeau Avenue, Dublin Road, Bruce Street, Sandy Row and sections of the lower Ormeau Road.
Ground investigation works will take place at the junction of Ormeau Avenue / Cromac Street / Ormeau Road on Friday 01 February at 7pm. It will continue until Monday 04 February at 7am. Trial excavations will also be carried out over the weekend.
These works are being completed to facilitate underground tunnelling works due to commence in this area in the coming months.
The entire project will help reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding in the area and improve the water quality in the Blackstaff Culvert and River Lagan. Environmental pollution will also be reduced.
