A vacant site in the Waterside area of L'Derry is to be redeveloped into a new seven-storey apartment complex.
The plans for 42 new homes at the corner of Duke Street and Fountain Hill are moving forward after approval from Derry City and Strabane District Council's Planning Committee.
The development will include 20 one-bed and 22 two-bed apartments along with an amenity space.
Elected members of the Planning Committee were informed that the site is located within the designated 'Central Area' and 'Commercial Core' as defined in the Derry Area Plan 2011.
It is currently a vacant site with no existing buildings and has access to a multi-storey car park located immediately north of and adjacent to the site's boundary.
The council also approved plans for homes in the Strabane Road and Learmount Road areas during its committee meeting.
