GRAHAM Projects Recognised At CCS Awards

GRAHAM has picked up a string of honours at this year's national Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) Awards in recognition of their impact on considerate construction and for improving the image of the industry.

With four Gold Awards, two Runner-up positions (Most Considerate Site) and six Bronze Awards, GRAHAM teams have been rewarded with national recognition for their impact on the environment, communities and people.

CCS, which has been operating its annual awards for over 20 years, praised the GRAHAM project teams for the measures put in place to facilitate improved consideration towards the public, the workforce, local neighbours and the environment.

Some of the impressive initiatives at various GRAHAM sites include:

• A unique university partnership that is looking at improving our workforce health & wellbeing

• The first construction site (Ulster Hospital - Acute Services Block) to be JAM-Card friendly where staff are trained to support individuals with autism/aspergers

• 'Buy Social' initiative

• The development of Busy Boards to support local community parent/toddler groups

• Training in mentoring practices to help support and recruit individuals from disadvantaged groups

GRAHAM took four Gold Awards for the following projects:

• A6 GRAHAM Farrans (NI)

• Belfast City – Replacement Acute Mental Health Inpatient Facility (RAMHIF) (NI)

• LLWR (Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR)

• Ulster Hospital - Acute Services Block (NI)

They also took two Silver, Runner-up Awards:

• Belfast City Hospital – Replacement Acute Mental Health Inpatient Facility (RAMHIF) (NI)

• Ulster Hospital - Acute Services Block (NI)

And finally six Bronze Awards:

• Copthall Leisure Centre (England South)

• Grand Central (NI)

• Lincoln's Inn (England South)

• Murrays' Mill, Manchester Life (England North)

• University of Glasgow, Medical Veterinary and Life Sciences Building (Scotland)

• University of Glasgow, Western Infirmary Enabling Works (Scotland)
