A road in the village of Caherconlish, Co Limerick, is set to close for almost two months for resurfacing.

The scheme will see a section of Main Street improved, approximately 145 metres from the Old Cemetery continuing to the southern end of the petrol station on the R513.

This section of the road will be closed to all traffic from 08 July until the end of August.

A detour via the L1149 Ballyneety Road, the R512 Kilmallock Road, the R514 Ballyneety to Herbertstown Road and the R513 Mitchelstown Road will be in place.

Following a recent assessment of the road surface, structural faults were found in the sub-base. These works will address the issue, with a full width excavation required to a depth of minimum 400mm along the entire length of the section.

The team will work from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturday to deliver the works within a quick timeframe.

Local residents, businesses and pedestrians will be accommodated throughout the construction period both during and outside working hours.
