Irish Water is set to invest almost €88 million in the Blanchardstown region to improve drainage.
Work has commenced on the Regional Drainage Scheme, which aims to support development and safeguard the environment in the area.
It will involve the construction of the underground storm water management facility and pumping station within an area of Waterville Park, as well as 3km of new wastewater network by tunnelling methods along Tolka Valley Park.
Speaking about the project, John Joyce, Asset Delivery Regional Lead, Irish Water said: "This project is needed to provide Blanchardstown and surrounding areas with the infrastructure needed to support the building of houses, schools, attract new industry and allow companies to expand and grow."
