Fianna Fáil has said the development of the old N11 between Blackstoops and Scarawalsh is a 'game-changer' for Enniscorthy.
TD for Wexford James Browne is calling for the development to serve as a new industrial zone for the area.
He said: "Steps should be taken to ensure that a new industrial area can grow between Blackstoops and Enniscorthy. This is a very attractive location, which can easily become a significant driver for employment in the greater Enniscorthy area.
"For many years the Old Dublin Road has served as a hub of industrial activity. It’s important that the County Council ensures that the services and resources are in place to enable the development of the area between Blackstoops and Scarawalsh.
"The bypass should bring many positive benefits for Enniscorthy. With less traffic in the town, motorists from rural areas will have better access to parking, which in turn makes it easier for everyone to do their business."
