Customers in the Clonmel area of County Cork are set to benefit from a more secure water supply courtesy of an Irish Water scheme.
The utility has completed work on the Clonmel Regional Water Supply Scheme North Storage project, increasing the storage capacity with the construction of a new reservoir.
This scheme saw contractor John Cradock Limited deliver a new reservoir in the townland of Giantsgrave with 4,000m3 of capacity, as well as an associated control building and a new booster pumping station in Rathronan. Approximately four kilometres of new water mains were laid and associated site works including landscaping and security fencing completed under the scheme.
These works will safeguard the water supply for this area and support future social and economic development in the south Tipperary town. It also reinforces Irish Water's commitment to improving water quality and water treatment standards right across the county.
