A range of improvements are set to be delivered at County Down's Delamont Country Park following a successful public consultation.

Following a recent drop-in session at the park, the local community provided positive feedback on plans for an improved trail network, enhanced viewing platform, improved visitor centre and key natural and built heritage features.

Those at the event were also very receptive to the introduction of different tools including interpretation signs and audio technology on the site.

These works were shaped by the public along with in-depth analysis, site assessment, and engagement with a variety of stakeholders.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Casey said: "The Council is pleased so many people attended the drop-in session and provided positive feedback on the proposals. The Council, following consideration of the Masterplan, will move to initiate work on implementing the plan and making the project a reality."

The Council will now seek to develop the projects into greater detail and seek to initiate implementation on a phased basis.
