Athy Distributor Road Project Progresses

Work is continuing to take place on the Athy Distributor Road project in Co Kildare.

The scheme will see a 3.4km semi-urban distributor road delivered to alleviate significant congestion in the historic core of Athy.

Kildare County Council is currently progressing an Advanced Works Contract for the project.

The construction site will be fenced off along with the access from the Dun Brinn area along the old railway bridge to the Carlow Road (R417). No access will be allowed.

The Council is implementing these fences to prevent unauthorised access and to ensure public safety.

The existing access to the Canal Walk alongside Tegral will be maintained in the short term.
