South Dublin County Council (SDCC) has announced the imminent closure of Lucan Leisure Centre for urgent structural repairs.
The facility is set to close for the repairs this Friday, 27 August, during which other upgrade works will also take place.
Once the work is complete, the new-look centre will form part of a Lucan sports and leisure campus together with the new swimming pool that is currently under construction and which will be completed in early 2022.
Works to the adjacent car park were approved under the Part 8 planning permission for the new swimming pool will also commence imminently. The closure of the car parking area is to facilitate the urgent requirement for the safe installation of gas mains across the site. These works will also provide an upgraded car park for the new sports campus.
SDCC will work with its traffic management team, school management and local Councillors to address issues arising in the interim until the projected reopening of the car park in January.
The new Lucan campus is expected to be fully operational in late February/early March 2022.
