ABC Businesses Urged To Utilise Green Energy

Businesses across the Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council area have been encouraged to take advantage of a new programme focused on the use of green energy.

The new Green Economy Business Support Programme includes the opportunity for all local businesses to hear directly from experts in the field of clean energy and how to contribute to the growth of a greener economy – an emerging sustainable and environmentally responsible economy where experts advise investment will increase globally.

The Council has planned two webinars in November and December, bringing together leading lights, who will profile the many opportunities that exist in clean energy by encouraging innovation in renewable energy and low carbon technologies.

Also on offer is one to one technical support targeted at local micro, small and medium sized enterprises who want to take action to reduce their carbon footprint and develop their knowledge and skills around green energy opportunities. Delivered in partnership with International Synergies, the support each business will receive includes a review of energy efficiency of buildings and production facilities and the creation of a net zero carbon energy plan. Each bespoke zero carbon energy plan will include practical steps to build resilience, strengthen competitiveness and realise carbon, energy and cost savings.

Speaking at the launch of the new support programme Lord Mayor, Alderman Glenn Barr said: "I am delighted to launch our Green Economy Support Programme today. Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is committed to playing our part in creating a sustainable, cleaner and greener environment for everyone in the Borough. We know green energy is an important issue for local businesses, and we want to help local businesses on their innovation journey to reduce their carbon footprint and to grasp opportunities from this new emerging economy."

Dermott Hickson, Project Manager, International Synergies NI, added: "We are pleased to be partnering with ABC Council to deliver the Green Economy Support Programme, supporting local businesses in the Borough to consider alternatives and helping them explore the many opportunities that a greener economy has to offer."
