Step Forward For Maghera Outdoor Recreational Space

Plans to develop an outdoor recreational green space in Maghera have taken a step forward.

A feasibility study is set to begin on the proposed development, with Outdoor Recreation NI (ORNI) appointed by Mid Ulster District Council to undertake the work.

This study will explore options for the lands between Mullagh Road and Tobermore Road in Maghera in a 'Master Plan' for the site.

As well as considering the current strategic context, carrying out desk research and fieldwork, ORNI will undertake consultation with stakeholders and the local community before developing concepts for the potential use of the site, from trails and educational activities to traffic flow and parking. 

A final report with recommendations will then be presented to the Council. 

Work on the feasibility study is anticipated to be completed in early 2022.
