Consultation Launches On Omagh Environmental Improvement Scheme

Members of the public are being called on to help shape the proposed Environmental Improvement Scheme for the streetscape of the Campsie area of Omagh.

If funding is secured, the works will see improvements delivered to paving, kerbing, road realignment, drainage, signage, planting and landscape design, street furniture, lighting (including festive lighting), and pedestrian crossing points among others.

Led by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the consultation will help to inform the concept designs of the proposed scheme.

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said: "The proposed Environmental Improvement Scheme for the Campsie area is designed to enhance the area as a place to live, work and visit and to improve pedestrian and traffic route linkages to other areas of the town.

"This initial consultation is an important first step to helping to create designs for the scheme which will be further consulted upon once ready.

"Undertaking this preparatory work now will ensure that we are in the best place possible to progress with the scheme when funding becomes available."

The proposed scheme includes the Market Street, Campsie Road, Campsie Drive, Campsie Avenue and Holmview Avenue areas of Campsie.

To find out more and to share your views please visit the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council survey or telephone Conaill McGovern, Project Manager for the Design Team at Taggarts, telephone 028 9066 2121 before the closing date of 5pm, Friday 17 December 2021.

Further consultation with local businesses, residents and visitors to the area will be undertaken in 2022 once the concept designs have been completed.
