Mayo County Council Expands Velocity Patcher Fleet

Mayo County Council has added a fourth Velocity Patcher to its fleet at the Machinery Yard.

Velocity Patchers are primarily used for pothole filling and maintaining the County's road network.

At this time of year they will also be used to prepare the road network for the busy Surface Dressing season, which is used as a preventative treatment to protect and prolong the life of the road. This also provides a new surface for improved braking therefore increasing road safety.

The surface dressing season commences in May and will be carried out by the Machinery Yard bitumen spraying teams.
