Northern Ireland's planning systems is failing to deliver for the economy, communities and the environment, a recent Audit office report has highlighted.
The report cited two and half to four years as being some of the fastest planning decisions in Northern Ireland, while in Republic of Ireland people receive the date of their planning decision when they submit a planning application, usually within a year of the application.
Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has slammed the planning system, calling for greater improvement to help build homes, improve environmental protections and help economic development.
"It is clear the planning system in the north needs to be improved as it is not delivering, despite the importance to the economy, the environment and for building homes," she added.
