Monkstown Pitch To Be Transformed Into New 3G Surface

Plans have been announced to transform an existing grass training pitch in Monkstown into a new 3G synthetic surface.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is investing in the project, which will provide the area with a new surface complete with floodlights and improved access. The 3G surface will significantly improve the playability of the pitch, meeting the needs of a range of local clubs.

Work is planned to kick off in January 2023 and expected to be completed by summer 2023.

This latest 3G pitch project is part of a significant Council investment in 3G pitches in the area with a full size 3G pitch planned for Rathcoole.

Welcoming the investment, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb said: "I am delighted that the Council is committed to investing in grassroots sports and supporting local clubs as they make such a valuable contribution to our community."
