The County Antrim village of Aghalee has been reimagined thanks to phase two improvements.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) delivered the Village Improvement Scheme with funding through the NI Rural Development Programme, revamping the grounds at the village hall with the removal of the old wall and the installation of estate fencing and landscaping. The resurfacing of the car park to compliment the works was undertaken by the Aghalee Village Hall and funded through the council's Community Facility Fund.

Lewis Trevithick, Chairman of the Aghalee Village Hall, said: "We are delighted with the works that have been undertaken through this scheme. It has really improved the conditions around the hall and brightens up the centre of the village. The hall is extremely well used and we are so pleased to have been included in this scheme."

Alderman Grehan, Chair of LCCC's Development Committee, commented: "The council is delighted to have been able to undertake these works. The village is looking really well, especially in the beautiful sunshine this morning.

"The Village Renewal Scheme has played an important role in delivering improvements across the rural villages in our council area and I believe it's so very important that we continue to support our small villages."
