A water main has burst in the Furbo area of County Galway, affecting supply for many local customers.
Irish Water and Galway County Council has now deployed a team to restore water to local residents as quickly as possible.
The burst is impacting the water supply to customers and businesses in Furbo and surrounding areas.
Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are underway and are expected to be completed by 8pm this evening, 24 May. Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the repair works. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
Rónan Daly, Irish Water, commented: "The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water for all customers. We understand the inconvenience bursts can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible."
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Irish Water receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
