A series of improvements have been completed at allotments across Castledawson.
This will allow the keen gardeners with mobility issues to use the plots and realise the significant health and psychological benefits that come from allotment gardening.
Work was carried out by Mid Ulster District Council with funding by the Department for Communities Access and Inclusion Programme. This included the creation of surfaced pathways, raised beds, including six that are suitable for wheelchair users.
Welcoming the improvements, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Paul McLean said: "Unfortunately it is all too common that allotments are not accessible to people with disabilities. Making an allotment a safe and welcoming green space that's accessible to all can change individual lives for the better. By improving opportunities for active outdoor recreation and organic food production, we can also improve the physical and mental well-being of the local community."
