Artemis Unveils New efoiler Technology

Construction News Image
The Green Party NI has welcomed the unveiling of new efoiler technology at Artemis Technologies, part of their zero emissions solution for maritime travel between Belfast and Bangor.

The Bangor Central Councillor Stephen Dunlop said: "I was delighted to attend the event, alongside my colleague Cllr Anthony Flynn, with investors and industry partners at the launch of the new carbon neutral electric Artemis boat that the company are developing. The launch was initiated to inform stakeholders of progress having tested the technology and secured partners to deliver the service. A key element of the plan is to link with active travel arrangements already in place to minimise any negative impact on both harbours. All vessels will have storage for bicycles allowing users to cycle to the boat and then for their onward journey.

"It was incredibly smooth as the boat gained speed it raised itself from the water and glided on wings just below the surface. With no noise and a smooth ride it will make for a relaxing trip either way for commuters, residents and visitors alike. The 'green' technology will be transferable around the world and it will fit comfortably into Northern Ireland's history of innovative engineering so I really welcome this early experience of testing the machinery and look forward to seeing this in use during 2024. It's not that far away!

"We have much to do to reach net zero, and this forward thinking use of green technology is a great step towards zero-emission transport and connectivity."
