The UK and Ireland's first mixed hydrogen gas training centre in County Antrim has celebrated a major milestone.
Northern Ireland firm Irwin has become the first M&E contractor to be trained at Mid and East Antrim Council's Hydrogen Training Academy.
The company was given tuition on the advanced technology heating and cooling systems capable of running on mixed hydrogen gases.
The facility runs on mixed hydrogen and natural gas, and results indicate a 10% overall reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. With over 26 million gas boilers in the UK, this innovative solution has the potential to provide a huge reduction in carbon emissions.
