A ceremony has been held to mark the official opening of an exciting new play park at Castlemara, Carrickfergus.
Representatives visited the site on Wednesday 10 August to launch the new facility.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Alderman Noel Willams, said: "Council takes the importance of play seriously and recognises how important it is for the health and wellbeing of our children and young people. I believe the opening of this new play park demonstrates Council's commitment to delivering new quality play provision across the Borough as highlighted in our Play Investment Strategy.
"I am particularly delighted to see that there is a greater emphasis on ease of access and inclusivity with the inclusion of sensory equipment, accessible roundabouts and other accessible pieces.
"Establishing better quality play parks is part of our wider ambition to ensure that communities have a real sense of identity and place, and that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy them. I hope that this new play park is enjoyed by the children and young people for many years to come."
The new play park was developed following a community consultation process which helped shaped this fantastic provision for children of all abilities.
Haffey's Sports Grounds delivered the project, handing over the park to the Council earlier this month.
