Irish Water is working with Donegal County Council to address the frequent bursts in Unshinagh. Work will involve the replacement of 300 metres of old cast iron pipework, promising better water quality for customers in the townland.
Crews are due to begin the works along the N15, from Unshinagh Lower to Patterson's Kitchens, in the coming days and will have the ageing pipes replaced by the end of December.

Irish Water's Networks Regional Lead Declan Cawley said: "Not only will the replacement of these pipes promise a better quality of water and a much more reliable supply for Unshinagh but they will stop the loss of treated water into the ground and help save a valuable resource."
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation, but the areas of work will be limited to short section to minimise impact on motorists.
Short-term interruptions to the water supply may be necessary but the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to any planned outages.
