Comber Roadworks To Commence This Month

A programme of roadworks is set to commence in Comber later this month.

Approximately £550,000 is being invested in a carriageway resurfacing scheme on A22 Belfast / Comber Road, which will take place over a 1.1 kilometre stretch between the Coach Road junction and the Millmount Road junction.

Work will begin on Monday 27 March and is expected to be complete by Friday 19 May 2023.


To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme it will be necessary to implement lane closures from 9.30 am to 4pm from Monday 27 March to Friday 07 April then a road closure from 9.30 am to 4pm, from Monday 17 April 2023 through to Friday 19 May 2023. The road will be open to traffic overnight and at the weekends.

During these times there will be a signed diversionary route via Comber, Newtownards, Dundonald and vice versa.

Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times, however some minor delays may be experienced.

Road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
