An event has been hosted for Women in Construction at Ballykeel Wind Farm in Larne.

Organised by CITB NI, the Women in Construction Network Site Visit took place at the Larne wind farm, which is being led by Orsted and expected to be fully operational by June 2023.

Orsted is the global-leader in offshore wind power, and supplies large-scale and cost-competitive offshore wind energy, onshore wind energy, and solar energy solutions.

William & Henry Alexander (CE) Ltd, the Principal Contractor for the project, has been constructing Wind farms for over 30 years along with other Civil Engineering projects throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Ballykeel Wind Farm contract involved the construction of access tracks, culverts, turbine bases, turbine hardstands and substation to facilitate the erection of seven Enercon wind turbines. When complete, the site will provide 16MW of power to the grid.
