Public To Inform Future Of Omagh Play Parks

Construction News Image
The provision of play parks across Omagh is set to be shaped with input from the public.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council launched a public consultation on the topic as part of its Play Park Strategy 2021-2030. The deadline for comments is 5pm on Thursday 06 July 2023.

The delivery of the Play Park Strategy is through the Play Parks Plan which sets out the work to be undertaken to ensure the future provision, upgrade, development and sustainable management of the play parks across the district.

There are currently 26 play parks in Omagh with 17 identified for upgrade and a further nine identified to be transformed into community green spaces. The first play park to have been significantly upgraded was the new destination play park at Grange Park which opened in October 2022.

Speaking about the consultation, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said: "I am delighted that the Council is continuing to deliver its ambitious Play Park Strategy.

"Play parks and open spaces play a huge role in the wellbeing of children, young people and their families.

"I would strongly encourage everyone to have their say during the consultation to ensure the delivery of the Play Park Plan is effective and delivers benefits for everyone."

A public consultation event will also be held at Omagh Leisure Complex on Thursday 29 June 2023 at 8pm.

The consultation is also available on the Council's website.
