Travelodge Opens 11th Hotel In Dublin

Construction News Image
Travelodge has officially opened its 11th hotel in Ireland in Dublin city centre, under its franchise agreement with Tifco.

Tifco has held a franchise agreement with Travelodge since 2016 and manages 11 Travelodge hotels across Ireland from Cork to Belfast.

The 393-room, Dublin City Centre Travelodge PLUS hotel is not only the largest branded hotel in Ireland, it is also the second largest hotel in Dublin city centre. It is also the first Travelodge hotel to offer the group’s premium economy SuperRooms.

The hotel was officially opened by Steve Bennett, Travelodge Chief Property & Development Officer and Enda O’Meara, Tifco, Chief Executive at an event attended by over 200 people. At the hotel opening ceremony a mural created by award winning Irish artist, Shane Sutton was unveiled. The 9 metres x 5 metres bespoke artwork titled Deep Dive Tea Break towers over the hotel’ heated terrace and provides a dramatic instagramable backdrop. The mural depicts a 19th-century diver paying homage to the hotel's location at Dublin docklands. Shane spray painted this mural in 5 days.

Shane Sutton is an highly skilled artist with a fervent passion for multiple disciplines, including traditional painting, film making and street art and its current focus is on street, canvas and digital art - which he explores through his street art persona - SPACER. This was the technique used to create the artwork at Dublin City Centre Travelodge PLUS.

Dublin City Centre Travelodge PLUS represents a multi-million euro investment for Tifco and has created 100 new jobs. This is the group’s fifth Travelodge hotel in Dublin.

The hotel is located in the heart of the financial district and close to all major attractions such as the Convention Centre, IFSC, Silicon Docks, Temple Bar, 3 Arena, Bord Gais Energy Theatre plus city centre tourist attractions and shopping centres areas.

Dublin City Travelodge PLUS has been designed by renowned architectural practice MCA Architects. The attractive contemporary building features glazed facades and a natural stone and brick finish, using a variety of elevational styles to enhance and integrate the local streetscape.

The eight-storey hotel has been designed in the group's 'budget-chic' Travelodge PLUS concept. The hotel format is designed around the needs of the budget traveller who wants that little bit more style and choice. Travelodge Plus hotels offer a distinctive choice of rooms as well as a contemporary style restaurant with touches to make it easier to work and relax outside the room.

The 393-room hotel across seven floors offers 175 SuperRooms, the group’s premium economy rooms. Similar to the long haul airlines, Travelodge has dialled up the comfort factor and created a room concept especially for business customers and leisure travellers who want a bit more comfort and don’t mind paying a little bit more.

The stylish SuperRoom has everything that you would expect from Travelodge with lots of additional creature comforts to enhance the business customer experience. This includes a Hansgröhe Raindance three-jet shower, in-room Lavazza coffee pod machines, a larger desk, 43” TV, mood lighting and USB power points throughout. The room is styled in a modern residential décor scheme, creating a home from home feel. It features the dream-light colour scheme which includes tones of calming blue, warm beige and tranquil taupe, creating a relaxing atmosphere to aid a good night’s sleep.

The hotel also offers a range of room types which includes: family, double, twin accessible and interconnecting rooms. The gem of the hotel is the seventh floor which offers a number of double height rooms showcasing exceptional city views.

The other 218 'budget chic' Travelodge PLUS rooms offer a premium ‘Tranquillity Zen’ colour scheme with tones of warm taupe, serenity beige and light white and feature the signature luxurious king-size Dreamer beds and blackout curtains to create the perfect setting for a quality night’s sleep.

The ground floor features a large open lobby style reception area, work and relaxation zones, The signature mossco bar and restaurant. The bar menu offers a range of cocktails, fine wines and popular spirits. The restaurant features a stylish daytime cafe with an all-day menu and a breakfast and dinner menu. The restaurant also features a stylish outdoor terrace where guests can enjoy a drink or a meal and enjoy viewing Shane Sutton’s impactful artwork.

At the hotel opening, Tifco also announced it has upgraded its Galway City hotel to a Travelodge PLUS concept. This multi-million euro investment includes adding 17 new rooms to the original site, upgrading the hotel (reception, rooms and Bar Cafe) to the new contemporary Travelodge PLUS design and adding 19 premium economy SuperRooms.

Galway City Travelodge is located a short walk away from business hubs Mervue Business Park and Galway Technology Centre and is also close to all the city centre tourist attractions such as Salthill Promenade and Eyre Square.

With the opening of Travelodge Plus Dublin City Centre and the upgrade of Travelodge Galway City, the group now offers 194 SuperRooms in Ireland.
