Uisce Éireann has commenced works to replace old water mains along the Station Road in Dunkerrin, providing the community with a reliable water supply.
Ward and Burke Construction are completing the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
Work has begun in Ballyrihy and will continue from the junction of the R490 and L-4020-2 for over 1km along the L-4020-2.
The works that are set to be completed in October 2023 will involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to the customers' water supply. If the existing connections on the public side are lead they will be replaced.
Joe Carroll, the Infrastructure Delivery Programme Manager at Uisce Éirean said: "Working in partnership with Offaly County Council, we have prioritised leakage reduction works to those areas which need it most. This project will see the replacement of approximately 1km of old water mains with new, modern pipes. Replacing these pipes will address leakage issues and will ensure a resilient water supply for homes and businesses in the area.
"Part of ensuring that safe and reliable drinking water is produced every day in County Offaly, is driving down the amount of clean, treated water lost to leakage. We would like to thank the local community for their continued cooperation and patience while we continue to upgrade and improve the water supply across the county."
