Dublin City Council in partnership with local charity, Dublin Simon Community, are currently delivering a new 100 bed medical facility in city centre.
Located at Usher's Island, the new medical facility will provide supported accommodation to serve the specific health needs of the vulnerable homeless population in Dublin.
A construction contractor is onsite and the centre is expected to be complete in the early stages of 2024. Once complete, the medical facility will be the largest Medical Residential Treatment and Recovery Centre in Europe. The Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage are funding the capital cost of the construction at Usher's Island.
Dublin Simon Community will be operating the facility with operational funding from the HSE.
The design for the new Dublin Simon Community building was developed with a common approach to materials based on the pattern of historic and contemporary materials currently visible along the quays.
Delivering medical and treatment services at Usher's Island location since 2002, Dublin Simon Community's new facility will provide residential medical, treatment and recovery services. The services will include detox, rehabilitation, semi-acute medical procedures and blood borne virus stabilisation.
