Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough (ABC) Council has opened the Small Floral Grant scheme for local communities.

Communities across the borough have been invited to apply for the grant and to improve their local environment by planting flowers and shrubs. Up to £250 is available to buy bedding plants and shrubs through the scheme.

The Council will buy the bedding plants or shrubs on behalf of the community group, and the community group will then plant and tend the plants.

Community groups will be awarded a small grant by the Council on the basis of evidence of real interest on the part of the community concerned in making a practical contribution to the improvement of the local area.

Towns and villages taking part in the Ulster in Bloom Competition will not qualify for the small grant scheme.
