Sisk Sorensen JV Chosen For Adare Bypass Construction

Limerick City and County Council has announced that the joint venture of John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd and Sorensen Civil Engineering Ltd, known as Sisk Sorensen JV, has been chosen as the successful tenderer for the construction of the Adare Bypass.

Pending final approvals, the contract is expected to be awarded by the end of 2024, setting the project on track for completion ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.

The Adare Bypass, a long-anticipated project, received government backing last November to expedite construction in time for the prestigious international golf event. This bypass aims to redirect unnecessary through traffic away from Adare village, reducing congestion on the N21 and improving overall safety and quality of life for local residents and commuters.

Once complete, the bypass will not only ease traffic but will also enhance the village's urban environment, marking a significant investment in infrastructure and community well-being for Adare and surrounding areas.

Mayor of Limerick John Moran said: "This announcement is significant. It is a priority of the Mayoral Programme to advance the Adare Bypass. To have it in place by the Autumn of 2027 remains very ambitious and would represent a significant achievement given the time remaining. Many risks to a successful outcome are outside the control of the Council. Limerick City and County Council will do everything it can to achieve this ambitious target but requires the goodwill and active cooperation of all agencies/stakeholders involved and/or affected by the project."
