ESB Networks teams and partner contractors are continuing efforts to restore electricity to thousands of homes, farms and businesses following the impacts of severe weather at the weekend.
As of yesterday, almost 60,000 ESB customers were without power, predominantly in counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois and Wicklow.
Met Éireann Status Orange and Yellow warnings remained in place yesterday evening, leading to more outages across the country.
However, crews from ESB Networks and their partner contractors were deployed to assess the damage, make the network safe and restore electricity supply in challenging conditions.
All ESB Networks teams are mobilised and are continuing to restore power where it is safe to do so.
ESB expect that power restoration in the worst affected areas will take multiple days and the freezing temperatures and hazardous conditions are slowing restoration efforts.
The company acknowledge the disruption to family and commercial life this causes and thank impacted customers for their patience as crews work to safely restore power.
