An unprecedented number of housing repair requests are being made in County Cavan following the substantial impact of Storm Éowyn.

Cavan County Council acknowledged these requests from tenants and reiterated their efforts at rectifying the many issues caused after widespread damage was caused on Friday, January 24.

A statement from the council said: "Work is currently targeted at high priority repairs, with a particular emphasis on roofing repairs, and all our contractors are fully focused on dealing with the storm damage safely and efficiently."

It added: "We thank the public for their continued patience at this time."
