Loughrea Town Boil Water Notice Lifted After Successful Sampling Results

A Boil Water Notice has been lifted with immediate effect in County Galway following consultations between Uisce Éireann and the Health Service Executive.

The notice was issued on the Loughrea Town Supply on Sunday, January 26, following disruptions caused in the wake of Storm Éowyn. This meant an alternative, temporary supply was activated for the town, with the notice also being issued to protect the health of approximately 5,500 customers.

Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann worked to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible, which is now the case following satisfactory water sampling results.

Uisce Éireann's Thomas Gibbons acknowledged the impact of a Boil Water Notice on customers and thanked the community for their support while the notice was in place.

Thomas said: "Uisce Éireann's primary focus remains the protection of public health and we worked with our stakeholders to lift the notice as quickly as possible.

"We are grateful to customers, elected representatives, and the media for their assistance in sharing information on the Boil Water Notice."
